Matterhorn
Zermatt is a small car-less mountain town in the Swiss Alps, nestled at the foot of the Matterhorn and just a few kilometers from the Italian border. This is a resort where skiing visitors are really spoiled for choice. Few places can match its combination of excellent advanced and intermediate slopes, reliable snow, magnificent scenery, Alpine charmand mountain restaurants with superb food and stunning views.

The l53 miles of ski runs include slopes ranging from the simplest to the most challenging; an extensive network of high-capacity cableways, mountain railways and ski lifts provides easy access. The resort is high, with a long season well into April. Zermatt offers some of the most extensive skiing of the Alps but still remains unspoiled. There are no cars in the village - transport is mostly by horse-drawn sleigh or electric taxis. There is now an electric ski bus (free with the ski-pass) that runs around the village and along the river to connect with the three ski departure points: Rothorn, Gornergrat and Klein Matterhorn (Matterhorn slopes). Interlinking between Rothorn and Gornergrat is much easier than Klein Matterhorn and Gornergrat. You can also ski down to Cervinia in Italy.
