Lardos is a quiet and relaxing resort area with a good beach and soft and clean sand. The area is small, untraditional and has a fair amount of holiday homes.

Lindos
Grecee > Rhodos
The town of Lindos is the tourist capital of Rhodes. While it is often described as a quaint island village, in reality it is a resort with a small village at its center. The beach is excellent but crowded in the summer. The famous Acropolis of Lindos is the most well known of all ancient sites in the Dodekanese. Lindos was the original capital of the island, established around 2000 BC and has been home to everyone from the ancient Greeks, the Byzantines, the Franks and the Turks, including visits from such luminaries as Saint Paul and the Knights of Saint John who refortified the castle. The village itself is closed to automobiles and is a labyrinth of tiny streets and alleys that make wandering through the town an adventure.

Lindos bay
Grecee > Rhodos
Lindos has two beaches, the main one of which, on Lindos Bay, is considered by some to be the best on the island; swimming is safe and there is a range of water sports as well as loungers and beachfront taverns. It can be very crowded during the summer months and, as Lindos is completely surrounded by hills, temperatures can be extremely high.

Rhodos - Church of Annunciation
Grecee > Rhodos
This interesting church is located in the New City of Rhodes, north of the harbor. It was built in 1925 by the Italians, following the architectural design of the old gothic Church of Saint John (which is located in the Old City of Rhodes) and was also dedicated to the patron of the Order (Saint John). It is the actual cathedral of Rhodes and attracts many visitors who come to admire its impressive architecture and its medieval style.

Fortress of Rhodes
Grecee > Rhodos
The fortress of Rhodes was a bastion of the Christian order of the Knights of St John (aka Knights Hospitallers). After the fall of Constantinople in 1453, the Knights, who were occupying the island of Rhodes since 1309, built a fortress on top of one of the town's nearby hills to protect from a possible Ottoman invasion on the island. Today, the ‘Old Town’ of Rhodes is surrounded by the impressive 15th century fortress wall, 2 1/2 miles long. It is just one of the testaments of the unusual history of the independent Rhodians, who seemed to have opposed Athens in almost every major conflict of those times.

Rhodos - Ippoton
Grecee > Rhodos
The Street of the Knights (Ippoton) is one of the best preserved and most delightful medieval relics in the world. The 600m (1,968 ft.) - long, cobble - paved street was constructed over an ancient pathway that led in a straight line from the Acropolis of Rhodes to the port. In the early 16th century it became the address for most of the inns of each nation, which housed Knights who belonged to the Order of St. John. The inns were used as eating clubs and temporary residences for visiting dignitaries, and their facades reflect the various architectural details of their respective countries.

Rhodos - Palace of the Grand Masters
Grecee > Rhodos
The Palace of the Grand Master, the most imposing building of the medieval town of Rhodes, is at the end of the Street of the Knights. It was built during the 14th century, but was damaged and almost completely demolished in 1856 by an explosion of gunpowder that was stored in its basement by the Turks. It was restored in 1939, during the Italian occupation. During the restoration, great effort was made to follow the original design. The Palace was intended by the fascist regime as a residence for the Italian King Vittorio Emmanuele II or for Mussolini.
